How to play

General Information

The absolute foundation of this composition is a strong frontline built around 4 Vanguard. With Diana, you also activate Lunar, which provides additional bonuses to your units through its Puls mechanic.

Your main carry is Aphelios. Since he is also a Rapid Fire unit, he already gains bonus Attack Speed, which means items such as Guinsoo's Rageblade are generally not optimal on him. Kraken can also be used, but there are better options available. His best items are usually Red Buff, Deathblade—because Aphelios has relatively low base AD—and Giant Slayer to help him deal with stronger frontlines.

Second Carry – Brambleback

Your secondary carry is Brambleback, and he can use a wide variety of items. His best options are Edge of Night, QSS, and Giant Slayer, but Sterak's Gage, Bloodthirster, and even Guinsoo's Rageblade can work very well on him. If you slammed a Guinsoo early on a Rapid Fire unit to maintain tempo, you can simply transfer it to Brambleback later instead of giving it to Aphelios.

Also, remember not to place Last Whisper on your main carry, Aphelios. It is generally better to play it on Mama Beak instead.

Early Game

The best early-game opener is usually built around Inferno Elderwood, especially Xayah. She makes great use of items such as Red Buff, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Kraken, and Last Whisper, making her an excellent item holder for this composition.

Main Tank – Sentinel

Your main tank is Sentinel, who is your strongest Vanguard. Warmog's Armor is one of his most important items, followed by items such as Adaptive Helm and Protector's Vow. Items like Dragon's Claw and Bramble Vest are slightly less optimal, but they can still work perfectly fine.

Level 8

On Level 8, roll to upgrade your most important 4-cost units to 2★: Brambleback, Aphelios, and Sentinel. Once you stabilize, push for higher levels as quickly as possible.

On higher levels, you can add units such as Taric 2★ and Ivern. As mentioned before, Guinsoo's Rageblade and Shojin work especially well on Ivern in this composition, particularly when playing the Vanguard version.

Additional Flex Options

Alune can also be played as an additional secondary carry. If you have a lot of AP items currently sitting on Zyra, it can be worth replacing her with Alune instead.
